Old Pier

This is a long exposure of an old pier down on the coast in Dorset, UK. It was taken whist the sun was setting, but it still quite light. To achieve this shot in daylight, I had to use some filters attached to the front of the camera. Without using filters on the camera, this shot is harder to achieve. I used a combination of ND filters, which then produced the milky effect of the sea.

This is one of my favaourite shots, taken on a long weekend in November. Though there are still areas for improvement and practice. I hope to go back and take more shots of this pier as it is a lovely location to photograph. I tried to use the same set up at another Dorset location, but with mixed results, so I hope to go back there again. Maybe when I purchase a more expensive filter…
