Another shot of the ceiling in Lincoln Cathedral. I’d love to get some more shots of this cathedral as it is stunning, but I also want to get some shots of other cathedrals. Not just the inside, the outside as well.

Black and White Snowdrop

This was taken a few months ago when the snowdrops were in bloom. I’ve posted pictures of other snowdrops here but thought I’d experiment with black and white for this shot. Its turned out quite well and I really like this shot.

Been playing about in the garden again, taking more macro shots of the flowers that are blooming. Not sure what flower this is but it looked lovely next to the last of the snowdrops.

Daffodil

Going a bit crazy taking photos of flowers in the back garden, but there are quite a few to choose from, so I expect there will be more to come yet. This was taken in the morning when we had a cold night and you can see the dewdrops on the petals.

Inside Bryce

Going back through the archives again and I spotted this picture that I took whilst walking down in the canyon of Bryce Canyon in Utah, USA. Its an amazing place and to be able to walk amoungst the hoodoo’s is stunning. Not only is Bryce famous for its hoodoo’s; it’s also famous for being able to see the night sky so clearly when compared to viewing it in a city. When you have really good weather, like I did back in 2009, you can easily make out the Milky Way. Somewhere I recommend going if you have the chance.

A Different Angle

This is something a bit different, taken one evening when I was working in the big smoke. This particular evening I didn’t take a tripod with me as I wasn’t sure I was actually going to spend time in the evening taking pics. Wish I had taken a tripod as it was very cold that evening and using a high ISO didn’t help stop some of the camera shake. Still there is always another day and evening to visit. Though preferably when there are unlikely to be too many tourists. But this is unlikely as its London and there will always be tourists about.

White Rose

This is a macro shot of a rose that was blooming in my front living room, using the natural light that was coming through the windows from the morning sun outside. This flower wasn’t grown from a seed by me but was bought for another member of this house. I love the soft focus on this image, it gives it a romantic kind of feel to the photo.

Art Nude

Since taking this photo as part of a Lighting Technique course, I’ve had mixed thoughts about whether I like this photo or not. Part of me does wish that this was more in focus, but the auto focus on my camera was playing up a bit and we had limited time with the model. And part of me does like that this is out of focus, as it gives it a sense of being taken in secret. I hope to do another workshop so that I can experiment more with this kind of lighting.

Housesteads Roman Fort Panorama

Housesteads Roman Fort is one of the many forts that lined Hadrians Wall. What you can see here is what is left of it after archeological excavations have taken place. Also at this site is England’s oldest latrine. If you are ever at this site, you should go and check it out.

This is the first panorama I have taken whilst using ND filters. I don’t use them often, but something that I am keen to learn how to use in the right conditions. I don’t think that is image has come out too badly to be fair.

Snowdrop

This was taken early on a frosty morning, about an hour after the sun had risen in the sky. We had a frost that morning and once the sun started to shine on the flowers, the frost started to melt and made for nice macro images like the one above. This was taken lying down on a black bin bag to stop me from getting dirt on my clothes. However I didn’t use a black background, the f-stop I used made the background all black and nicely complements the white petals.

I love how you can see the water drops from the frost in this photo. Definitely one of my favourite shots of the year so far
